JV Head Coach

Coach Whit Tonnessen grew up playing hockey in North Tarrytown, NY. He graduated from Sleepy Hollow High School, where he played ice hockey, golf, and ran track. He graduated from Pace University with a Bachelors degree in Business Administration. He became a US Air Force pilot and currently serves in the Air National Guard. Coach Tonnessen has coached a number of teams in the Capital Amateur Hockey Association over the last seven years. During the summer in the off season he has coached roller hockey teams for the last six years allowing many children the opportunity to gain knowledge and enhance playing skills used in both sports. He also has played in the Adult Hockey League for several years. Coach Tonnessen is married to Kitty, and has two sons, Kristian and Bryan, and a daughter, Michelle. All of their children have benefitted from the opportunities and great programs offered at Gahanna Lincoln High School. Kristian and Bryan were founding members of the Gahanna Ice Hockey Club, Michelle plays for The Ohio State University, and Bryan still holds many ice hockey records at GLHS.

2002-2007

Coach Jack Hoogeveen grew up playing hockey in Toronto, Ontario. He has a Master's Degree in City and Regional Planning from The Ohio State University and a Bachelor's Degree from Bowling Green State University. He played defense and forward for the Bowling Green Falcons from 1968-1972. In 1972 he attended the inaugural tryout camp for the Cleveland Crusaders of the World Hockey Association. From 1975-1977 he was a player-coach of the Columbus team in the Mid-America Hockey League. Over the last eight years he has coached a number of teams in the Capital Amateur Hockey Association and is an instructor at the Ohio State Initiation Skating and Hockey Program. Coach Hoogeveen was privileged to be the first varsity hockey coach at Gahanna Lincoln High School. He resides in Westerville with his wife and five children: Kate, Emily, Eric, Caroline, and Tess. Coach Hoogeveen compiled a 38-109-8 record in five seasons at GLHS.
