General Program Overview
The Gahanna Inline Hockey League began in 1998, founded by Marc Hoffman.
Over the years, as many as 8 teams from ages 7-15 have competed every
summer. Originally, the league played on a paved parking lot at Headley
Park in Gahanna, but in 2004 the Gahanna Parks and Recreation Department
built a new outdoor rink at Shull Park specifically for the league. In
2005, the Gahanna Ice Hockey Board of Directors incorporated Mr. Hoffman,
and assumed responsibility for the league, which is operated as a non-profit
venture for Central Ohio residents. The season generally begins around the
first week in June, and ends in Mid August. In 2006, GIHL applied for
USA Hockey Inline sanction, and now operates as a USAH Inline association.
The league is currently divided into two divisions based on skill level: a competitive league and an instructional league. See the registration information on the front page to get involved! We are also a USA Hockey Inline Sanctioned League as of 2006.
